NATASHA KOMAROV

Math Instructor

NATASHA KOMAROV

Natasha founded Vermont Math Circle in 2022 to bring high quality math and chess options to the after school scene in northern Vermont. She is passionate about teaching children these beautiful topics, and has been doing so for over 2 decades, starting as a chess teacher at the International Chess Academy when she was a high school student. Natasha holds a PhD in Mathematics from Dartmouth College (as well as a BS in Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University). While in graduate school, she was also trained in child development and early education in Dartmouth’s well-received Mathematical Pedagogy Seminar. After graduate school, Natasha went on to hold a postdoctoral position at Carnegie Mellon University for two years before joining the faculty at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY, where she holds a tenured professorship. Although Natasha has loved teaching college students, she found that ever since becoming a parent, her heart lies with educating younger children. She is officially leaving her position at SLU in order to pursue this passion. After years of spending as much time as possible in Burlington, Natasha moved to Burlington full time in 2020, where she lives with her tiny toddler, huge dog, and average-sized husband.
